At the next Trustees’ Board meeting in October, I’ll be presenting the quarterly report on our financial performance, including our overall cashflow position. This report will be available for all members to view online once published.
A quick reminder: members are welcome to attend any Board meeting as an observer by emailing secretary@ukpsa.org to request access.
As we move into the final quarter of the year, I’ve been reflecting not only on the past few months but also on the intense period from 2024 into early 2025. With numerous key matches both nationally and internationally, ensuring every financial aspect was covered to get our teams to the start line fully prepared has been a real challenge. Naturally, there were a few bumps along the way, but I’m grateful for the support from members who stepped up to help problem-solve and navigate complex issues.
The most recent quarter has been quite different — with fewer international events (though certainly not forgetting the Mini Rifle World Shoot and the European Shotgun Championship earlier in the year, or the recent Handgun World Shoot in South Africa). The financial workload has shifted from high activity to more of a “run and maintain” phase. As the shooting season draws to a close, this change of pace has allowed the Board and me to focus on strengthening our refreshed structure and drafting policies in key areas where they are needed.
From a financial stability perspective, I’m pleased to report that we remain in a healthy position. All commitments, including those to IPSC for match sanctioning and per-capita fees, are fully covered. Our regular income from safety course levies and new member registrations continues to provide a steady foundation.
The donations supporting our challenge to the proposed lead ammunition restrictions currently total £1,223.24 — a slightly unusual figure due to PayPal processing fees on some contributions. I’m extremely grateful to everyone who has donated so far and continues to support this important cause to protect our sport. Contributions can still be made at any time.
Looking ahead, two major international events are on the horizon: the European Handgun Championship and the Shotgun World Shoot in 2026. Activity will increase significantly as slots are announced and our National Squad Directors begin developing the GB squads. This will involve further financial commitments to secure slots and ensure our teams are properly equipped. Alongside these, a strong domestic calendar of matches is planned — setting us up for another active and exciting year.
Finally, a word about volunteering. Our community thrives because of those who give their time and expertise. Treasury is no exception, and with one new volunteer already onboarding, I’d welcome anyone interested in learning more about the financial side of the Charity — perhaps with a view to a future formal role. If that sounds like you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for an informal chat.
DVC,
Gareth Cooper
UKPSA Treasurer
